1st Irish surfari: Sligo

This evening I'm heading to Sligo until Sunday night, joining the surf club's Christmas trip : )

I can't wait!!!

Everything else is good.. I've been walking a lot, I'm learning the geography of Dublin's intricate winding streets, I took a train down to Bray (on the coast) and just did my first small shopping a couple hours ago. I got no place to live yet but I saw a gorgeous apartment today! I'm looking at a shared house this pm as well.

Next time I write here it'll be from my Google laptop, which I'll be receiving on Monday : )

it's cold and I love it!

When I flew into Dublin early in the afternoon it was sunny, and it stayed sunny for hours. It was very windy and from the plane you could see white caps on the ocean surface and some nice curls at the beach.

Last night I slept about an hour only because I stayed up looking for housing ads. So today I had to check on that... paying 2 EUR for 16 minutes of connection at the hotel!

After that and unpacking in my hotel room, eating some soup for a late lunch, taking a shower and a 15-minute nap, I walked from Ballsbridge to downtown. It was a lovely walk --it was cold but I was wearing warm clothes and I loved feeling the cold air on the tiny bit of skin that I left exposed on my face: I was wearing a hat, a scarf and gloves : )

It was a long walk but a nice one. Dublin is a cool city.

I'm heading to a social meeting of the Surf Club now.

Tomorrow I'll take DART to check out the scene south of the city, by the ocean. IT's only 24 minutes on the train and I could see the ocean every day... maybe surf small waves...

Ireland, here I come!

Tomorrow, Wednesday Nov. 25th 2009, I'm moving to Dublin. I don't know how long I'll be there, but surely long enough to start a new blog devoted to my life in Ireland.

I'll keep my general blog Exploring life and my other country-specific blogs (which you can find on the side-bar), but this one will be my everyday kind of blog. If you eventually visit them all, you'll notice most of my blogs are on Wordpress --my very first one was on Blogger because I have always had confidence in Google's products. Unfortunately, after trying it at that time, I didn't think Blogger was all that good, so I switched. I'm happily giving Blogger another chance because my new job is precisely at Google --if the things I didn't used to like about it have improved I'll be stoked, and if they haven't, I will at least be able to help improve it : )

Since I will soon meet people from all over the globe, and most of my friends understand English anyway, this blog will be solely in English (my other blogs are multilingual -mostly in Catalan and English, but sometimes in Spanish too- and I think that makes them too restricted). I do reserve the right, though, to add a few lines in Catalan at the end of a post as a way of summary for my parents : )

Be well : )
